Default Gear shifter getting stuck (auto tranny).

I'm having problems shifting into gear onto my 98 Chevy C1500 (automatic tranny) (350). Once it's in park and I go to start the truck, it'll start, but I can't shift into reverse, neutral, or drive. I actually have to turn the key maybe a 1/4 turn to allow me to shift into neutral, then start the truck and then shift.

I have tighten the screw to the handle, but that doesn't seem to solve the problem.

If there is any suggestion or anyone who has gone through this problem before, please let me know!

    Thanks!

If you do a search there's a guy who did a write up on fixing the switch interlock in the steering column.

I did a search and I didn't find a write up, unless I'm doing something wrong.
    Anybody?

sounds like your tranny is binding up

make sure you are setting your park brake before ****ing into park

the p-brake also keeps your rear shoe's aligned when you set it

MMMM....I don't think it's the tranny. The problem is at the selector.
