    Default Cold morning knock

    I bought my '97 Silverado this summer and it is running great. I am noticing a knock on cold mornings that lasts for a very short time. Is this normal ???

    GM V8's are famous for "piston slap" No problems as long as it goes away after warming up. Some have had luck with thinner 5w-30 oils, but that is no guarantee.

    I have this problem, and it's getting worse, i put in 5w-30 oil, and it just made the knocking worse.
