    Default Quadrajet question

A few weeks ago I stripped the threads replacing the fuel filter housing on my truck. Common problem with Qjets I heard, but still DOH!

My mechanic says about the only real solution to replace it. Went to the junk yard today and found a Qjet of an old Monte Carlo (It was a 79, but the carb seems to be an '85, according to the number). I'm wondering if I can replace mine with this.

    I have a '79 C10, 350 V8 with a Quadrajet, Automatic.

My carb No. is 17059206, and the junk one is 17085204. It also appears to have been computer controlled, where mine, obviously has no computer.

It seems I can use my choke and swap the top plates, but the computer aspect has me wondering.

I'm also looking for a self-tapping housing, but I read they're only temporary fixers.

    Thanks for any help/advice!

It should work. You will need to run a fused wire to the ignition wire. The wire is just a fuel cutoff switch so no big deal. As long as you can make the choke work the carb will be fine on your engine.
