    Question 94' 2500 V8 Serpentine belt question

    Hello everyone,

Well, my day started fun today. My serpentine belt broke because the AC compressor ceased, totally shot, it will not turn. Now I do not use AC, never, so I was hopping there was a way I can get a new serpentine belt that would not required to go through the AC compressor. Even if it means removing the compressor, the reason I mention thin is because there is a diagram on the truck for a serpentine belt setup w/o AC compressor, but instead of been an AC compressor, it seems to be a pulley; that would be more complicated that just bypassing the AC compressor.. but at this point I just do not want to buy a new AC compressor that I actually do not use.... by the way, called the dealer, and they were like... say what??? so, no help there

    Your suggestions are greatly appreciated

You should be able to bypass the compressor, my friend did it on his 97 Tahoe.

if the w/o AC is to have a pulley you are pretty much taking a shot in the dark as far as size you would need without buying the bypass part for the AC. Or just get a compressor from the junkyard, it should only be $75 with the exchange for the old one.

they sell a/c bypass kits u pull the old compressor and they give you a bracket and a pulley to install where the a/c compressor goes. me and my buddy did it on his truck. keeps the same serpentine belt soo u dont have to worry about guessing the length of a new belt. this is an old thread but mayb itll help someone in the future
