Trailblazer outsells Explorer!

The Ford Explorer is no longer the best-selling sport utility vehicle in the United States. This 14-year title ended last year as the Chevrolet TrailBlazer now holds the honor.

Ford sold 29% lees Explorers, most of which are built in Louisville. The TrailBlazer saw sales dropping 14% to 244,150, compared to the Explorer's sales of 239,788.

Yeah, I have been in an explorer many times over the years, they seem very cramped for legroom, headroom and side-to-side room. The Trailblazer is just an all-around better vehicle. Makes sense that their numbers have surpassed Fords.

let's not forget that gm is a much bigger company than ford is also. ford has always said that the f150 is the best selling truck, but chevy and gmc always split their sales. chevy by itself almost sells as many trucks as ford, and when you count in the gmc, it's way over.

Ford is in for some hard time still. GM and Chrysler have pulled it around, but they have not. Ford is moving towards some wierd social policies that I think are hurting business.

What helps the TB is that it's not built off of the Canyon/Colorado chassis, like the explorer is built off of the ranger chassis. The ranger is a nice little truck, but it's just that "Little" and slapping a full cabin on it, and cramming an optional third row seat in to make it seem bigger is just a bad idea.

I have been in both the Explorer and the TB (I own one ...) and I think that I have at least 2" of extra leg-room in the TB vs. the Explorer. That's a LOT when you're 6'4" and it's the difference between almost being able to go straight legged vs. a 25deg angle all the time.
