Default 89 GMC Sierra 3500 X-Cab Body Repair

    Hi All, first post here.

Need source for decent quality patch panels for my 89 GMC Sierra 3500. Also seeking source for new grille and bumpers.

It didn't take me long to turn a small rust hole into the grand canyon...

    Thanks

Hi, and welcome to the site.

LMCtruck is the preference around here. They have a web site, and will ship you a catalog, as well. EVERYTHING for your truck is there. I have also found some parts on Craigslist, so try that in your area. Try Chevy parts

Also, check the forum classifieds, I think someone had a set of cab corners for sale.

    Good luck,

Thanks, nice grille and bumper selection. Couldn't find any patch panels there though.

I get the feeling I'm going to need to remove the bed to weld the patch on properly. Never having done that, is is difficult to do? Once I figure out how to get it loose, can I just slide it back a bit, rather than completely removing it from the frame?

    Thanks

I haven't welded mine up yet, either. The box has eight bolts, easy enough depending on rust.

Don't forget the fuel fill, ground wire, and taillight harness!

At least your paint doesn't look like mine. My mother, now retired to Florida, decided to really clean the truck (about 10 years ago, before I took possession). She took a stiff scrub brush and dishwashing detergent to it. Unfortunately she did a very thorough job.

LMC can be a little pricy. I have noticed most local autoparts stores and sometime VIP can get patchpanels through a company called Keystone. They are who we use at my work when we cant get OEM panels. They are what is call CAPA certified which means due to copy right and patents that they are the most exact panel you can buy without buying OEM parts. Good Luck It never hurts to ask the local guys.
