    Default Custom Back Rack

    I'm Thinking of building a custom backrack. I have an airflow tailgate if you know what I am talking about. I am going to weld it to some steel i have. should be cool, i'll post a pic when its done. Just wondering if anyone has done anything like this.

    I just got this email, what does everyone think?

    I am counsel for Backrack Inc., the owner of the trademark BACKRACK in Canada and the United States for use in association with headache racks or cab guards.

    The advertisement at the URL below refers to BACKRACK as a generic term:

    http://www.gmtruckclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33682

    In particular, the title of the post and the text refers to a "custom back rack".

    This is unlawful and may diminish the value of my client’s trademark. Please remove this advertisement ASAP and/or replace all references to the trademark BACKRACK with a proper generic term, namely cab guard or headache rack.

    Thank you for your prompt attention to this request.

    I just went to Chili's and I couldn't help but to sing.

    "I want some baby BACKRACK, baby BACKRACK, baby BACKRACK ribs..."

    Then I jumped in the car and I turned on the radio and it was Sir MixaLot rapping, "Baby's got BACKRACK."

    Then I got home and turned on the TV and it was BACKRACK to the future.

    Quite a good day actually.

    Thumbs down

    You have got to be kidding me! Well if they want to split straws like that, TECHNICALLY 95chevyK1500 didn't use there stupid copy righted name in exact form. the company spelled it in all capital letters, and the original poster put it all in lower case letters!

    I know one thing If I would ever need a #ack &ack, I wouldn't buy one from them! I would go over to Diamondback Covers and buy a real HEADACHE RACK, take a page out of my book.

    Hah. I'd like to know what "law" that guy is referring to.

    How about this. BACKRACK FOR $99.00! Now they willl probably send an email about a violation of their minimum advertised price policy.

    Or maybe this. I'm less than satisfied with my BACKRACK. It doesn't work as well as my ACME Headache Rack did. Thats probably an illegal comparison, because nothing can compare to a BACKRACK.

    Wow!!! What a chump!! Those things are garbage anyways... well I don't own one but I just looked got done looking at them and they look like cheap crap. I don't want to make any of the members that might have one mad but this upsets me a little.

    There should be anything illegal about it, it was a statement!

    One time when I was 16 the owner of a local gas station was a real jerk to me because he thought I was just some young punk but I vowed never to go back to his gas station. It has been 7 years and I have never once gotten gas from him! I purposely drive an extra mile out of my way just because he was so rude!

    well jeez I didn't mean to break any laws. I'm 17, and I was simply stating that I am trying to build something. My bad.

    Wow ...talk about a good way to ruin potential business opportunities. Considering their business is TRUCK based. And several members here are also members of other TRUCK forums. These types of threads can be spread ALL OVER THE INTERNET. What a moron! Must have received their law degree through the mail.

    Oh no, it just accured to me that the OP might be getting letters from the following companies' lawyers because of his illegal use of these truck related trademarked names:

    * Airflow .... http://airflowtruck.com/
    * Custom ... http://www.customtrucks.com/
    * Tailgate ...http://tailgatetruck.com/
    * Cool .......http://www.cooltruck.com/

    And the worst one of all...

    * Anything ....http://www.autoanything.com/

    I crack myself up...
