Default Need to raise my ex cab LS Colorado w/ stock ZQ8 suspension

I totally love the look and handling of my Colorado. In Victory Red.

However I hit virtually everything, every speed bump, dip, coming in and out of shopping centers and gas stations. Also I have a raised trailer hitch that when I tow my 5x8 motorcycle trailer, it sags just slightly, but also the crank up trailer support hits sometimes.

I've seen the after market cross member to get it up higher, but I need the whole truck up about 1.5 to 2 inches, without loosing the ride and handling charactoristics.

I am thinking of maybe a taller tire, as I am only looking at a maximum of just 2 inches. I do notice I have "45" tires instead of the 50 series tires so it it does sit about 1/2 inch lower than normal..

    Any suggestions are welcome

You will get up a little higher with taller tires. But remember, you only gain 1/2 the extra height of the tire.

If you start to talk about a suspension lift, you will change the handling characteristics, there is no doubt about it. However, if you want to go up, you'll probably be fine with that, I'm guessing. ??

I find that when I creep over speed bumps, I just get a tiny scrape, as if it is exactly the same height, not like I am bouncing off of them. I can definately feel the secondary springs when I load things in the truck, so it doesn't go down more than an inch with 800 to 1000 pounds in the bed, so since I have 60K on the truck already (2004) and I am due tires anyway, I'll experiment with a little taller next month when the disability check that has "been in the mail" for 3 months shows up and hopefully that solves the issue.
