Default Show Your Aftermarket Satellite Radio Mounts

Well, I'm finally getting Sirius satellite radio for my truck, but I'm having a tough time figuring out where to mount the darn thing (probably going to go with the Starmate 5 or Sportster 5).

I want to do some kind of permentant mount (no suction cups allowed).

Does anybody have some ideas they want to share?

Truck: 2004 Silverado 1500, double din head unit, dual climate controls.

    Thanks.

I have a custom console from Jotto-Desk... So I just ordered a black faceplate and flat mounted my Sportser to it...

My pics are in my dead computer, but I'll try to get new ones.

I have an old unit, Starmate 1, I think, that I mounted in my overhead console.

I don't have a garage remote, so I cut, heated, and bent the Homelink section of the console and fitted the Sirius inside of it. I tapped into the overhead wiring for ignition power, and ran the antenna to the rear. Everything is hidden above the headliner.

When I want to move the Sirius, the door swings down, loosen a couple of wingnuts, and off I go.

I'll check out some 04 dash pics and see if I can come up with an idea or two.

    Good luck,

I dont have my sirius radio mounted permanently yet as a want to wait until i get my factory truck radio replaced with an aftermarket. However i do know you can buy a kit through sirius, crutchfield, etc that is used to hardwire and permantly mount your sirius radio

I upgraded from the sportster 3 to the sportster 5 and i love it. IMO thats what i would go with. Although i have never used the starmate 5 unit before so i cant say one is definitly better over the other.

    Nice install!

I don't have a pic, but I'll get one tomorrow.

I have an opening down low on my dash (I have no idea what purpose it serves; anything I put in it falls out) that I think would be a good place to mount it. I can still see and easily reach the unit from there.

I have my GPS unit mounted on the left side of the dash near the A pillar, so that location is out. I don't like the idea of it going on top of the dash near the center (to distracting), but that may be a good option.

I saw a few pictures of 04 dashes, and I think I know what your talking about. I think it's for sunglasses or a wallet, but who knows.

I think the newer radioes are slim enough to fit there. I would get a piece of thin angle from the hardware. Attach your Sirius to the angle with hook 'n loop, and fit it to the hole. Mark your spot, mount it, and run your wires.

Hope this helps, and good luck! Oh, and thanks for the compliments. The Sirius was the main reason I bought the overhead console.
