You know after reading the write up, I do have a question. After googling "type 194 led" I came up with TONS of results and alot of them vary. Can anyone post the right one I need?2002 GMC Sierra 2500HD

The lighting filter i believe is painted on. I think you have to be careful with it - just sand it off, then stop. For the LED bulbs, a 99-02 needs any LED lights that are type 194 so they fit in the bases. What I know now that I couldn't find when I did this is that you can buy replaceable bases for this purpose. Most type 194 LED's have 2 or 4 led's integrated into one unit - the more the better, unless one with 4 has a straight pattern. LEDs are more directional than standard lights, so you want the ones that have the best combination of brightness (highest mcd rating, if given) and the widest viewing angle.

What sort of stores would carry these LEDs? I know I can order them online but would like to check locally if possible. I live near Boise Idaho so it should have most stores available.

I bought mine at canadian tire, but they should have something similar at some type of auto parts store near you. Also, if you have one anywhere nearby, somewhere that sell plasmaglow would probably be apretty good bet.
