CLEAN UP ???!!!!! on our loving website
Hi, just a thought along the lines for moderators and users.
I think its very anoing that so many threads get started with the same questions.
Before posting ,,,we all should look thru at least the first 2 pages of the threads to see if somebody already gave the answer or asked the question ?!
There are so many double posts in here that its hard to keep track of what is going on .
Would u fellow club members agree ????
We should some how clean this up and also add like " THE BAR " to just chat about everything not really ralated ( BS ) !
Who things that i am right, if u think i am wrong , just don't even post here !!! HAHAHAHA

That's the way it's supposed to work. Unfortunately, with so many new members and new members that have never been on forums, it'll never happen. It's a problem that every forum that I've ever been a member of (a lot) faces. Some forums even go as far as having members be dicks and just say "SEARCH XXXX" (place your favorite insulting name where the X's are.).

I am new and doing mostly reading so far. For someone new it is a bit confusing.
Where could I find opinions on the new 2010 models? I am on the hunt for a new truck and want real opinions from real fans like on this forum.

Thinking out loud.
I think one of the biggest draws of GMTC is how friendly the site is. No pissing contests here.
I do think we could do a few things to improve the use of the site.
1. Bigger "SEARCH" button. Maybe even rename it: "Ask GMTC" at the center of each section heading.
2. When someone asks the same question that has already been answered, post just the link to the answer rather than answering the question over and over.
3. Once a post has been answered with a link, it should be locked and any new "posts" should be done at the linked post.
4. Allow some posts to die by not answering them.
5. Encourage the habit of checking the tab "Today's Posts" to keep the focus on new questions.
6. Turn off the "Steve" bot that automatically posts parts and news articles that mention GM.
7. Set up an automatic "welcome" with a link to info for newbies. (Leave it open so others can post their individual welcome. The "welcome" response could have buttons for "Ask GMTC" "How to create a sig" "Newcomer Info" etc.
I'm sure I could offer more, but it's new years eve so I'm signing off to celebrate. See you next year! There is no way to happiness....happiness is the way.:yipi:

Just for the record, the moderators on this site do a bang-up job! Two cheers to them. We're well beyond the 1-million visitors per year mark and there are nearly 1,000 new members per month, that's a lot of people to keep up with ... lots of spam too, folks trying to promote their own store, or bots setup to spam for viagra, etc.
Thanks to the mods. Thanks to the members who dilligently read and post. We're a constant work in progress and we just passed 5 years online, here's to another 5 years and then some!
