Default Chirping and wobbly fan [Expired Topic]

I have a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer with a 2.4 inline 6 cyl. the fan belt has just begun chirping. When I investigated it, I found that the whole fan assembly is wobbling. I checked the bolts and they are tight. Does the fan assebly have a rubber bushing in it that allows some wobble or is something wrong?
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    P. Mike

No that's a sign of a failed water pump bearing. If the water pump is not replaced soon, you'll find that the engine will throw it's belt under acceleration. if that happens it will likely snap, and possibly tear the fan off. Which will send the spinning fan into your radiator. Much more costly than just fixing the water pump. I've already been there.

Yikes. Yeah, my TB runs smooth with no wobble. I agree, the water pump looks like it's got an issue.

    thanks everyone,
    Well you're right!
It is in the shop as I speak.
I caught it before the belt broke.
Are there any factory recals on this item?
I can't imagin a vehicle with 65k miles, having water pump issues already.
    thanks for the info,
    P. Mike

For recalls, just looks like there were taillight bulb recalls.
