    Default Stock Air Filter

Okay this is going to be a stupid question and I'm very sorry for it, but here it goes. How do you check the filter besides opening it up to see if it needs to be changed. I keep looking at the little gage for it and it's still at like 90% or so. Also the in cab filter it's located behind the glove box right? Thanks for any and all help everyone.
