I watched Jay Leno jet car on tv the other day and they were using bio diesel. And I was just wondering is this possibly the fuel for the future for us? I want the know more about it like will we have to make changes to our trucks run bio diesel and how much does it cost. If anyone knows anything about it at all or know of a good website I would like to hear it.
Thanks

Bio Diesel is dying in popularity unfortunately. The high demand of crops required as food is running the price up and most large scale operations cant get enough used oil to steadily produce a supply.
Theres also been a lot of protest over turning crops to oil when theres so many starving people in the world.
For every great idea thought up theres someone that doesnt like it and will protest, sometimes for no other reason than the fact they can.

X2 what tbplus10 said and i read that there finding there alot of internal build up on parts.
Our school principle had a Duramax and made his own biodiesel right there at school in our Ag shop. Once he got the equipment paid for and the process down, it is cheaper than buying diesel. But it seemed like he had to work on his truck every week or two because of severly clogged fuel filters and it never seemed to run as good on biodiesel as it does on real diesel.

I have often wondered about the long term effects of BD...seemed like I had never heard of it one day, and the next day it was the hottest thing since Al Gore invented the internet. I tremains very popular here in San Diego among the VM owners.

It also depends on if you are using new or used oil. Also depends on what kind oil that you are using. When you make your own bio diesel you have to in a heater kit to heat it before it goes in the engine. That also keeps it from geling & clogging the injectors. You also have to really filter it before you fill up, thats if you make it. Go to www.biodiesel.org or go to your local library for more info.
