Default Towing Capacity- 1995 Chevy 2500

I have just purchased a 1995 Chevy Silverado 2500 and I was curious as to the towing capacity...It's got the 5.7L V8 (automatic).

I've heard between 8-12K...and we are looking at 5th wheels, so it's pretty critical (and of course its not in the manual)

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Depends on the axle ratio your truck has. We had a '93 C3500 with the 5.7L and a 4.10 axle ratio and it could only tow 7500 lbs max. I'd say the 2500 could tow max of 8000-8500 with the same gear as it has a lighter chassis. I don't think you'd want to tow a heavy fifth wheel without a dually though.

Also if it's a 4x4 subtract about 500lbs from your max towing.
