    Let's see here. Electric cars run on electricity. 60% of U.S. electricity comes from coal. If you run out of gas you can have a friend bring you a can of gas. Will he bring you a bucket of amps? Bet this doesn't get posted.

    Actually, devices are currently being developed (and I think actually already exist) that are portable charging stations. So yes - if your Chevy Volt runs out of "juice" your "friend" could bring you more "juice."
