Default ~Sudden lose of POWER STEERING ? fluid coming out of cap. 02' hd 4x4 chevy truck

    2002 4X4 hd chevy truck

Truck was running fine last night. Never a problem.

Today I jump in and immediatly notice that I can't turn !??!?! Also,.. the brakes are stiff, and I can barely stop even at a roll.

I pop the hood to see fluid dripping from cap. I turn off the truck and unscrew the cap.. and more comes out. Is it suppose to be under pressure ?

    any ideas what's happening ?

    thanks all !

The power steering pump shafts like to break off internally on thoes. Take off the belt and pull on the power steering pully, they will normally slide right out. If that's not the case, I would be looking at the hydroboost unit.

if it's the hydroboost unit--- what would that cost to replace with labor you think ?
