    Angry Door lock

    Hello Everyone:

I am about to pull out my .50 cal Desert Eagle and put my driver's side door out of its misery.

The door closes, but the inside handle sticks out, so the door will not latch. Push the handle in and the door will latch. Obviously it is a matter of a spring on the latch has somehow become dislodged, not allowing the handle to spring back
    .
I am trying to get the lock out as I have a relacement. Each time I take the three screws out of the lock it drops. That's OK, but it does not drop down far enough to see how to remove the rods or how to get at them (I have the inside panel off.)

I removed the vent but can't see far enough upwards to see anything.

I decided to give up and try it another day but now when I close the door it will not latch as it appears another spring has broken or come loose. The locking arm just swings back and forth.

The Haynes manual was very helpful. "Take the three screws out and remove lock."

I could have written a better description with my eyes closed.

Hello there fellow Canadian and welcome. What year is your truck? A little more info is required.

If the handle stays out the handle assembly needs to be replaced, I did a write up in the how to for my 99 suburban, even if your truck is not the same model style it will give you a good idea to what needs to be done. Handle assemblies from GM are 35

I'm referring to the inside handle. I looked at a working one and there are not return springs in it. All of the springs are located within the lock itself, thus the need to get it out.

I can just get to the rod clips for the inside handle and lock lever, but I cannot see the outside rods, and this is where I am having trouble.
