intermittent problem - 2004 2500hd Silverado gas, heater blows cold air. Shift manual temp controls up and down a couple of times and warm air blows. What is the issue here?

Probably the encoder motor on the hot/cold blend door is binding up. They aren't cheap.

It is the Temp Door Actuater, it is prolly shorted out, and yes they are not cheap by any means i had mine short out on my 04 1500 and still have yet to get it taken care of. I have been quoted anywhere from $800-$1000 from various dealerships and local shops.

If anyone could help me find out where exactly the actuater is on the driver side it would be great help.

disconnect your battery to reset the hvac modules. sometimes the actuators will "loose" the door positions. if that doesnt help you most likely need a new blend door actuator.

price will depend on where the actuator is at and weather you have to pull the dash to get to it or not
