Need some expert opinions/experience:
Trying to put together my mod plan over the next year and I have one major problem, solid axle swap or IFS lift....I want my truck to be trail competent but comfortable-its my daily driver. It seems that whatever IFS lift you go with, front articulation isn't very good.
What's the trailability of an IFS lift? 4-6"?? on-highway ride quality?? Anyone have experience with a duramax SAS??
I don't have $18K lying around for an ORU kit or anything, but if I'll wait and save to build it right.
Thanks for all the help and any ideas/suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks!

Personally, I prefer IFS. they probide the best ride quality and ground clearance and work well in all-terrain with the exception of extreme rocks. If you save for the ORU kit you'll be getting huge travel and streetability, but if you can't spend the money on it I wouldn't go with just and IFS lift. They simply cannot replace enough of the stock components to overcome it's shortcomings and in that case I would go with a solid axle. A lot of this is personal opinion, but it's based off of years of reading and researching IFS. i'm a desert fan, so that definitely affects my opinion but hopefully this is helpful.

Thanks, I appreciate the opinion. The desert world definitely has it's bias to IFS. There is a group that is pushing a dodge cummins for the super stock with a solid axle, but its pretty rare.
