the best way to check how your lights are shining is to find a tall flat wall in a driveway/parking lot that you can pull up to on a level surface (keep about 10-20 feet away). inspect the beam pattern as it shines on the wall. if it looks irregular or brighter in some areas than others, or distorted, then the bulb may be out of alignment. to check the bulb, inspect it as it is sitting in the socket. does it look crooked? does part of the bulb or socket look loose or not seated properly? you don't have H4 bulbs so the cap shouldn't be a problem. also remember with 8000K your headlights will only be about 2/3 as bright as a vehicle running OEM 4300K lights...

the kits are pretty much universal, all you need to do is order it with the same style headlamp bulbs that you have in your truck right now.

thanks guys. i'm not sure if it should be a "how to" or if someone wants to make it a sticky, but i was hoping that it helped. i see a ton of posts and threads asking about HID's so i figured if it gets put up where people will notice it then they won't have to ask as many questions.

very awesome write up but i have a problem with mine....maybe someone can help me understand

2003 tahoe, 55w ddm tuning HID kit w/ 6000k bulb and i purchased the wire harness w/ relay from them later as i started to have issues with one side not igniting

after installing relay wire harness...the issue still exists on the same side but before we think bad ballast read on

here is what i have observed, i park mine in the garage so when i start my truck, the lights want to come on due to the auto light sensor thinking its dark. I turn the key to the point right before the truck starts, here are two variances of what happens, if i wait a second for the HID lights to kick on and then start the truck, they seem to be fine. if i just go all the way thru without waiting, my driver side will not ignite and once the truck is started, I can turn the lights off/on manually to try and get the driver side back on...i get nothing on that driver side except for a flicker. When I get moving and I really get the RPM's up creating power....i can sometimes at that point get the light to come on....

so what the hek is the damn wiring harness doing at this point? I dont think its working although I tested it by taking it off the battery and manually turned the lights on, with it connected, the lights would come on, with it disconnected, it would not.

im super frustrated that this isnt working right! any of you guys have any insight or experience a similar issue and were able to fix it? love the lights but hate that they dont work right even after having bought the harness! GRRRRR!!!!
