Programmed the truck with a custom tune written by Lew Eaton, thanks bro.
Amazing what a CAI kit and a custom tune can do to a little 4.8L.* My post are intended for entertainment purposes only and should not be taken serious unless I'm posting in the Buy/Sell section of this board and all opinions are that of mine ONLY.

I took my Duramax with my new trailer to pick up a rental skid steer for work this summer. It tows like nothing with that truck.
I spent more time scrubbing my steering wheel with leather cleaner. It turns out that a kitchen scrubber sponge works a lot better than a fingernail brush for scrubbing leather, especially on a steering wheel where it is hard to keep the leather cleaner in the nail brush. It is a lot of work to get 10 years worth of dirt off of a leather steering wheel though.
Here is a picture of where I scrubbed the steering wheel. The right side is where I cleaned it 2 days ago with the fingernail brush and conditioned it, the left side is today after I cleaned it with a scrubber sponge. Note that the left is much smoother and less shiny, which is good since shiny leather indicates that it is really dirty.

I used my duramax to tow a skidsteer 3 hours from home to start work on my first landscaping job of the summer. It was my first time towing a real load with this truck and it did it no problem. It did lose prime after I started it again once I arrived here, but that's probably because it was really hot today, I recently added 2 extra fuel filters to assist filtration and I was low on diesel by that point. That's probably not the best combination for keeping the diesel injection system primed.

Hey guys could use some input on my chevy. So I'm going to get my rear window resealed soon because water is starting to seep past the glue and I'm strongly considering tinting my back window while I have the window out... problem is I have a canopy on my truck the majority of the time. so my question to you guys is what would be a good tint % for my situation so that i can keep the sun out with canopy off but still be able to see even with the canopy on? my friends are telling me anywhere from 20% to 35% would be fine. can't make up my mind. so I'd aprreciate some suggestions! thanks

Well, today I decided to run the truck through a 'touchfree' wash ... one I've used, before. This time, however, it hung up on the driver's side rear fender flare and left a 8-10" scratch as it muscled by. So much for 'touchfree'.
Sadly, there's no attendant at this one so I couldn't prove it, as I couldn't very well jump out of the truck while the unit was hung on my driver's side mirror (the next thing it caught on) spraying water everywhere. So I just drove out of the thing. I didn't even get my truck clean, argh ... but I wasn't about to let that thing keep touching my ride.
Thank the lord I know my body man, well, as he took a look at it 15 mins later and told me to bring it to him, Monday, and he'd get it taken care of.
@95K1500, I run limo tint in the back and I can see fine during the daytime. Night time on the highway I can also see fine. Backing up at night is where it used to become a pain. 5W Cree LED bulbs for the reverse lights helped a -little- ... but weren't enough, so now there is a pair of Rigid flushmount Dually D2's in the rear bumper and it's like daylight behind me.
Don't go as dark as I did on the rear window unless you plan to either a) upgrade your backup lighting or b) refrain from tinting your driver and passenger windows, much so that you can use your side mirrors at night when backing up.
