Default 04 Silverado Check/Change Oil message?

I had my oil changed a few weeks ago. Within a week of the change I started getting a check oil message, then a change oil message.

What is the sensor based on? Is it a miles based message or is it more complex and I really need another change etc?

The Oil message is based off of mileage.......Around every 3000 Miles the message will appear,Did you reset it after having your Oil changed??

Once reset it will appear around every 3000 Miles. To reset it do the following.

1.Turn the key to the on position, without starting the egnine.
    2. Depress the gas pedal times 3,to the floor within 5 seconds
    3. The Oil Message will flash a few times,if so you're done and it is reset.
