Default Hello from Ohio - Need driveshaft~

Hello from Geneva, Ohio. I love my '94 Yukon Sport with 185,000 miles. My differential pinion seal is leaking pretty bad and I'm considering replacing it myself. I thought that I should also replace the u-joints and drive shaft as well since NE Ohio winters and salt have rusted both. Can this all be done without opening up the differential cover?

    Thanks for the help,

Welcome to the GMTruckClub! As far as I know you should be able to accomplish this work w/o opening up the differental. There are some real gearheads around who can give you a better answer though. Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome! I'm also looking for a drive shaft for the Sport - haven't had much luck online. Going to try NAPA this weekend.

you should be able to do all this work in your garage. Look up the pinion preload in chiltons before you start so you can make sure you have the right tools to do the job.
Heres a great place for driveshafts that I've used to have a few custom ones made at reasonable prices.

Thanks for the link! Broke off 2 studs on the diff. cover and gave up! Just took it to the shop. They replaced 2 u-joints, pinion seal, drilled out the 2 broken studs and replaced rusted out cover. $400. Almost worth it. I may replace driveshaft myself later.
    Thanks again, Tom
