Question 2011 4 Cylinder Equinox AWD - Can It handle 140 Miles per Day? Downsizing Tahoe Z71

Just looking for feedback on if a Equinox 4 cylinder can handle my normal commute of 140 miles per day? I presently have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe Z71, and the cost in gas is crushing me. I am seriously looking at downsizing from an 8 to 4 to save $$ on gas. Many have told me that the 4 cylinder engine will simply be beat to death on a 140 mile a day commute. Moving to a 6 cylinder will gain me a little better milage that the 8 I presently have, but I am really into saving $$. Any thoughts are welcome.

Welcome to the GMTC. My friend's wife has an Equinox w/ the 4 in it and she puts about 90 to 100 miles a day on it. She hasn't had any complaints about it (which is very surprising for her). I've got a GMC 1500 with the Active Fuel Management system and the 6 speed transmission and I get about 19.8 mpg on average and my commute is 80 miles a day.

PS. My sister has a Honda Pilot with the V6 w/ "eco mode" and she loves that damn thing.

The new 4cyl motors are designed for the highway, and milage like that. You will find that the little 4cyl actually moves that truck around quite easly.. I would go for it.. and i dont know everything but have you looked at the HHR?? Ive had one of those and averaged 33-34 on the highway, and it sat up similar to an SUV, and drove great.. Just a thought as well.
