    Default Mainer with a 91 k1500 shorty powered by a 96 5.7L vortec

Hello everyone, I finally got my truck back on the road after it sat for more than a year with a blown up TBI 4.3!

Background on the truck: 91 GMC K1500 Regular cab, short bed, 5 speed manual with 142k miles. I bought it mid summer of 2007 for $600 and put $800 into balljoints, steering linkage, fuel pump, brakes, etc. for an inspection sticker. I drove it with the stock TBI 4.3L from December '07 until October '08 when I spun a rod bearing trying to do an 8th mile brakestand... (I love my vehicles).

After I blew the engine I bought a crashed '96 K2500 for the Vortec swap for $500 around January '08. I pulled the engine, dash, engine and dash harnesses, steering column, ECU, engine mounts, fuel pump, etc, etc. out of both trucks... FUN! (No).

It was almost summer now and I was tired of working on my truck and decided to buy an '87 Mazda RX-7 from a friend. The rx-7 also had a blown engine so now my spring project was to rebuild the rotary before spring and rock the 7 through the summer. Mission success! The RX-7 is awesome! Much more fun to drive than the old 4.3 truck. Then i blew the transmission in the RX-7 in October '09 and plan "Fix the truck for snow" was on.

So the Vortec swap is now complete enough to drive legally and I am doing it! Great power, smooth runing, sounds mean, in every aspect a giant leap up from the old TBI 4.3! Truck will probably be for sale spring of this year (2010), what do you all think I might expect to get for it? Thanks, Ben

Thats my story, hope you liked it.

Would anyone guess at what I could expect to get for this truck when I sell it?
