Default Are you a tech or former GM worker?

I just realized that we have folks on this board that are current or former GM employees or techs or other "certified" folks. I'm convinced that we should recognize you for what you've done and we want to give you a special designation in the system.

If you fit into some caterory listed above (or a similar type) let me know. It will help everyone on the board know who's on here.

Former GM assembly line worker at CPC Framingham, Ma.

Started out as a line worker in Nov. 73.

Worked my way up to Utility, (Absentee).

Then Utility Repair. (Absentee for Repair men).

Then Repair, (Soft Trim, then plant wide).

When my Plant went to one shift I went to the body shop as a welder for the last 2 years the plant was open.

They shut the doors on that plant and they offered me 3 choices. Albany, NY., Oklahoma, or Saturn.

I went with Saturn, turned out our daughter was allergic to the entire state. So we moved back North, Maine where I have worked mostly construction as a welder/ironworker.

I don’t think I disserve any special recognition.

Just my retirement in 13 more years, if the company is still solvent.

I came up in the GM ranks the hard way. I worked part time for Cadilac as a lube tech in High School, then in college I went to Chevy/ Buick and worked almost as an intern for two years while I did my GM online training. The last two years of school I took night courses and worked full time as a technician on all Buick and Chevy models. After school I was an electrical engineer for a year and put down the wrenches for a brief case and tie. After I got laid off while at a trade show I decided to go back to school for my degree in buisness and once again went to work for GM in the HUMMER division for a year and a half finishing the GM training program. I now work for Land Rover a division of (Found On Road Dead) because the money is better, unfortunately somtimes keeping your house means working for the other side I look forward to interacting with all of you on this site in the future I hope to learn and help give insight to those with questions as well.

I think it might be helpful to have a forum designed specificaly for folks to ask a tech or a member with more formal education/experience with design, repair and maintenance.

I do get PM's from other member of other forums from time to time about things I have posted on related.
