Yeah, I'm not sure if Chrome is a good surface to paint on and have it stick. You probably have to prep it with something designed for Chrome and then paint on top of that.

Ya Jeff other than the sanding thing I think I sprayed some different primer on it. I can't remember the name of it. Try a body shop or NAPA (paint supplier) Ask those guys there is something for everything nowadays.

    Thumbs up

Call upon the mad scientist within yourself.
Get some Sulfuric acid, or Muriatic acid, and apply it diluted, (60acid/40water) to the chrome surface. Leave it on for short periods of time then rinse. Once the surface is dulled, it's pretty much ready for priming.

Always use proper safety equipment. Goggles, and face shield, and rubber gloves. always keep a large bucket of clean water nearby, in the event you should need to bathe an acid soaked body part. (hopefully it's not your head.)

Certainly the sanding, or special primer is the safest way to go, but I just wanted to throw that suggestion out there.

I can see traileadr coming out of the garage with a lab coat/goggles/hair standing straight up. Laughing sadistically with rubber gloves on. Kids take off screaming into the house (mommy mommy dads snapped) something about a bumper...

Sorry Jeff we got a little goofy on ya. LOL
If you have any visible rust you'll need to grind spots out(spot fill in) or you will be doing touch ups every so often. If you take your time it should turn out nice.
