What is the exact part/model of the subs you have/looking at? Each model has different power rating. You dont want an amp that will blow up the speaker, yet you dont want an amp thats too weak to drive one.

You really want to "match" an amp to the sub.

You need to post a little more info.

    subwoofer-
    kicker comp 12" sub
    4 ohms
    350 watts/150 rms max
    27-500 Hz (frequency response)

now i have two of these..can i run both of them off of an 800 watt amp? and if the amp had 4 ohms could it still run both..or would i need an 8 ohm amp? or two different amps? or would you recommend getting a beastly 1500 watt amp?

You want an amp that will give you 300 watt RMS at 2 ohm , wire subs in parallel. With a 800W peak amp you run a risk of damaging the subs.

Make sure you run quality power cables from the battery.

    This looks good: http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_5....html?tp=35834

I installed this little jewel...about 45min of work and a nice little 3.5mm jack...if you have two devices the unit will also accept a second one...
