    Default 1996 5.7 running rough

    i have a 1996 chevy k1500 5.7. i recently installed a comp camshaft since then my truck idles rough and has a sputter at initial throttle but smoothes out.it is throwing a muti missfire and throttle position senor low circuit code.what could be the cause of it?

    sounds like a timing issue...
    2006 gmc sierra 1500 z71
    flowmaster 40 series cat-back system
    S&B cold air intake
    1970 chevy c10 350/290 crate engine
    dual flowmasters to dual outlet in front of the rear tires

    HAD a 99 Harley Sporster 1200
    after market paint job
    lotsa chrome
    screamin eagle pipes

    X2 sounds like timing to me too.......

    When setting your timing, be sure to disconnect the computer.

    On my '94 K1500, it was located behind the dash and underneath the glove box.

    I believe it is a brown or tan wire with a black stripe.

    Once it is disconnected, set the distributer timing at 0 degrees.

    Then after connecting the computer back up, the timing should readjust itself.

    with the wire still connected your comp will go into default mode

    i got a t.p.s. and that fixed the rough idle but i still has the sputter i will take a look at that tomorrow thanks for the input.

    Clean your I.A.C as well..... That can cause a sputter...
