Not sure about the factory flares, I had Bushwacker Pocket flares on my 06 Dodge Ram and they wore through the paint down to the primer. I bought the truck used and went to take off the flares (didn't like the looks so much wih stock tires) found that I would have to have the Fenders and Qtrs repainted. Just put them back on and recently traded it for the Burban. Which by the way has the Z71 flares. I hope these do not do the same thing since they use the double stick tape and will provide additional protection from the flare rubbing the paint, at least that is my hope anyway.

I like my factory flares. The only way they look good is if they're color matched IMO.

lol yea I noticed that after I said I wasn't sure how it would look. Whoops

Anyway, after seeing your stock rims with them off I'm still unsure. It doesn't look too bad, but I also like the idea mentioned about having them painted black to match the truck. hmmm decisions, decisions.

Ok here's the pictures of the damaged fender flare. It's small over all but you'll notice that it's actually a puncture that goes all the way through. I tried to take a picture showing the hole and the ground through the hole.

My work truck came w/ out them [check picture below] and I like it that way.

My '93 Jimmy came w/ factory plastic fender flares attached w/ screws. They held moisture and caused the front fenders to rust out and bubble up along the top of the flares...didn't make any problems in the rear and the inner fenders were intact.

I put them back on after I installed a set of chinese fenders that were $29.00 each...

Thanks for the help and opinions guys! Only one way to truly find out now though... take em off, get it washed up and compare before and after!

When I take em off to see what it looks like I'll post a before and after pic to see what you guys think.

Took one off today, and 6 years of being in the sun hasn't faded the paint as much as I expected, so a previous owner must've had a garage (unlike myself). However, the difference was still noticeable enough that I've decided to leave them on and maybe just have them painted black to match the colour of the truck.

Thanks for all you help as usual! It's nice to have some opinions from all over!
