Thread: Toolbox Question

Anybody got any experience with Duralast truck boxes sold at AutoZone. I can get it for about $60 cheeper than the UWS box and shipped to the door free. UWS box, I will have to drive 1.5 hours to pick up. AutoZone doesn't carry it in the store so I can't take a look - I was hoping someone on here has some opinion on them. Thanks in advance.

they look like a pretty nice box. But i have a UWS box.. but it is actually a box that bolts to the floor of my bed rather than over the rails...Mike

Does anyone know if they make these boxes for full size trucks? Im trying to find one that isnt as deep in the bed. I have a short bed truck and want to keep as much available hauling space as well as the fact that I dont have a ton of tools I need to carry. I just dont know if they only make them for small trucks like tacomas and s10s

i have a duralast it is not great dirt gets into the box under the lid seal no matter how the latch is adjusted. it also has the habit of opening up unless you smash it closed and then jump on it. the metal is also a little thin and it is welded a little out of square.

I've had a black UWS toolchest in my 05 for about five years and no problems, water, dirt tight and when I travel I can put my tonno cover over it so I can carry more stuff inthe bed. It mounts to the bed floor so I found some quick disconnects to mount it to the bed floor so when I need some more bed space I just disconnect and take it out with all my winching gear in the box.
