Removing 09 Sierra Grille
Hey everyone, I have a 09 GMC Sierra 5.3L Extended Cab and I bought the new oval-shaped OEM grille but I can't seem to remove the black plastic grille off my truck. I know how to do it but I can't seem to get the d@mn clips out. Is there an easier way to remove this grille with out cussing and thinking about breaking them? I have the plastic radiator cover off and the four screws on top of the grille removed but can't get the clips out... I have tried pliers, screwdrivers with no luck..
Thanks for your help.

You're really in for a treat if you're stuck on those clips! I find its easiest to use a vise grips set to be about a quarter inch open, grab the metal clip on the middle, squeeze, and then pull it out. If you totally flatten the clips out they kind of curve back up and start grabbing again making it just about impossible to slide out.
The grille is also hooked in to the top part of the bumper, its really tricky to get the grille out with the bumper still on the truck..

Ill give the vise grips a try.
Thanks for your input.

Also, should i try to remove the bottom clips first or try to remove the bumper tabs that are going through the grille first? I have the two clips that are behind the GMC logo out but can't get the bottom four out. Thanks again.

The vise grips worked!!!! The clips came right out when I used them.
