A/C Belt jumping around
So on my '86, when the air kicks on, the belt jumps around like it really wants to come off. It does fine when the compressor isn't running. I've tightened the heck out of it. Wondering if I should get a shorter belt and readjust that way or if there's something maybe wrong with the clutch?!? What do ya'll think?

My wifes altima does the same thing until you pick up the rpms. Ive replaced belt, tensioner, compressor. All with little improvement. at this point not sure if it is a pulley or even engine mount? I know it doesnt help much but have been trying to find the same answer.David

Sounds like A/c clutch pulley like a magnet came loose inside!

I agree it has to be the A/C pulley, allowing it to jump like that.

Thanks for the inputs ya'll..
Probably a good idea just to replace the whole thing. I belive it was stamped either '92 or '96. don't want to invest the money on a few parts then have something else fail. Got any recs on somewhere with good prices? Usually go to Autozone or LMC.....but....
