Check engine light
Over the weekend my '04 2500HD with a 6.0 liter had the check engine light come on.
I was near an Autozone so I stopped and had them hook up their reader. The code came back as a "radom misfire". Before I take it in to the shop, any ideas what might be causing this? The truck seems to be running fine with a couple times of running rough.

P0300 random misfire
to GMTC. A great place to hang out for all things GM.
The code P0300 indicates a random misfire. If it was P0301 it is occurring on cylinder 1. P0305, cylinder 5 etc. It may be jumping from cylinder to cylinder. Plugs wires, cap, rotor, vacuum leak a whole host of causes are probable. Here is a good link to help you with the troubleshooting. http://www.random-misfire.com/
