Thread: pump to run

  1. #1

    Default pump to run

i have a 1991 chevy truck with a good 350, throttle body fuel injected. it starts instantly and then dies in the same second. if I keep lightly pumping the accellerator pedal, it will keep running but as soon as I hold the pedal still at any level, full down to flat idle, it dies. In other words, it only runs when its getting fuel from the accelerator pump. what is the problem here?

My buddy had the same problem in his truck.

Now this may or may not be the same problem, but it is a cheap fix if it works.

Swap out the Distributor Cap and Rotor with new ones. Even if you had just changed them.

This stuff is made cheaply, and you never know what is could or not.

    That's my two cents.

    Good luck.

my buddies truck did this last week in his truck... get your battery tested at an auto parts store.. we could jump start his truck and it would run as long as he had the accelerator pushed but the second he let off it would loose all RPM's and drop dead.. his battery had one bad cell in it.. installed a new battery and actually changed out his post connecters because they were looking bad and it ran like new.. they test your battery for free at autozone..
