Default How many miles ya running on 5.3l

I have a 2000 chevy silverado z71 4x4 with 190,000 and my 3rd tranmission. Am i gonna hit 300,000? With normal maintence. I run Royal Purple every oil change. I'm 19 so im kinda hard on it at times. Having 4x4 dont help me out with taking care of it. That button is So tempting at times haha.

I have the 4l60e tranmission. I'm 19 but im a Master ase tech. So i do my own work, when this motor goes ill be replacing it. Ill put pics on here soon. i just got a tatto on my back of the truck all detailed suspension exhaust even the z71 is on there. My dad is the orginal owner he he never really use 4wd much. and he droves like a normal person most of the time. but he pulled a bobcat quite a bit with it. Anyways my new tranmission is bulletproof. 3500 dollars later/. i have a mild shift **** and and tranny cooler after it runs through the raditor. I love this truck i hope to keep it around fora long time. its in good shape. I've always had fords and now that i have a chevy i will never go back to a ford. i think the 5.3l last so long is because you really dont have to run any rpms to run down the road..

Well my dads '99 Silverado has a 5.3l in it and we put a new motor in it at about 255,000 miles. The head gasket went bad and so we replaced the motor because my dad didnt wana waste his time putn a head gasket in a high milage motor. But if we woulda just fixed the head gasket, i know the motor would still be runnin today. Now the truck has 262,000 miles on it. EVERYTHING else besides the motor and a fuel pump is all original. Keep the oil changed and dont be ruff on it and itll run a very long time. I know how you feel when you wana be hard on them but dont wana damage your truck, im a kid too, im 17 and have to hold myself back from hot-roddin them too because i want mine to last a long time too. Good luck.

Just hit 125,000 in my '99 1500 and still on the original 4L60E tranny, but the trans has a TransGo shift kit in it.

Ive heard alot of people say a 4l60e tranny isnt very durable but my dads 4l60e has 262,000 miles on it and has only been flushed once in the trucks life(we bought it new). And my 4l60e in my truck has 186,000+ miles on it and shifts just as smooth as a new one.

Man I have a 2000 Sierra with 5.3 and 318,000 miles. Original Engine and rearend though the transmission went at 250,000. I will say i think the transmission was probably my fault since it happened right after a 1200 mile/ 20 hour tow haha. All i do is regular oil changes with GTX high mileage blend. All other major components except brake pads and driver side window motor are original factory and I just drove from California to Virginia making an average of 20 MPG. I love my Sierra.
