Thread: need wrenches

  1. #1

    Default need wrenches

I have had enough crap tools and want to buy a full set of Gearwrench ratchet wrenches.
I need metric regular size 9-17mm, and a few big X beam type, 19,20 mm etc. I dont really need reversible.
I might want 1 or 2 swivel heads..
    maybe a 10, 14,mm.

where online is the best for these..??? thanks

I have not used gearwrench brand but have tried the craftsman rachet type wenches ans broke the teeth ring on two sets.
If you have any kind of tight bolt a 6 point wrench is a lot handier imho.

Also there is the sae metric issue but this might help some

    5/16 = 8mm
    7/16 = 11mm
    9/16 = 14mm
    11/16 = 17mm
    3/4 = 19mm
    7/8 = 22mm
    15/16 = 24mm
    1 = 25mm
    1 1/16 = 27mm
    1 3/16 = 30mm
    1 1/4 = 32mm
    1 5/16 = 33mm
    1 3/8 = 35mm
    1 1/2 = 38mm

just to clarify ratcheting wrenches are not made to break loose nuts and bolts, just google it and you will find what you need

Same here. And because there is a Sears everywhere, ever since I bought my first tools 25 years ago it's always been Craftsman, usually the Professional line. In fact I just added a second full set of combination wrenches to my kit here. Got tired of needing two of something and only having one all the time, and with the sales Sears does, it was cheaper to buy an entire set than try to figure out the half dozen or ten I actually needed duplicates of.
