Unhappy Discontinuation of on* support for analog sytems in 02's and older, any thoughts?

I just bought my suburban last Saturday, and was exited that I would finally have this wonderful On* System available. However, I soon discovered that beginning in '08, On* would no longer offer service to analog On* vehicles. I went to the On* website, and found that my '01 had the analog system and would become unusable at the end of the year. All of the K-series GM SUV's 2002 and older would no longer be supported and the '03's require an expensive upgrade. No upgrade is going to be offered to those of us in the '02s and older. I was curious as to how forum members felt about this. I know many are not subscribers, but how does everyone feel about this?

We don't subscribe, but I know I would be upset if they did that. I wonder why they will not be offering the conversion on the '02 or older.

Sorry to hear about your impending loss.
Better make sure to get your money's worth out of it while you still have it.

News to me, but then I don't have it anyway.

Funny thing is I recomend it to people, mainly for the safety of it. It will call for help if you get in an accident that deploys air bags.

I can see why they would do it from a technological point of view, but you would think they would have seen this coming and planned the system so that it could have been easily modified. They're cutting off a revenue stream.

This is one the the problems when different technologies are married together. Like a TV/VCR combo. The TV works, but you might not have touched a VHS tape in 5 years.

Exactly. Well Gm is certainly not the first company to be guilty of lack of foresight, and I'm sure they won't be the last.

I'm sure the lawyers are checking the 'terms of service' and looking for any angle for a class action lawsuit to line their pockets with millions and get users a $500 coupon for a discount on a new gm car equipped with onstar.
