    Default 4 wheel drive problem

My 4 wheel drive was messin up on my 2006 z71 and while in the process of finding the problem we left the front drive shaft out for a couple weeks . right before we put it back in i started noticin a popping noise comin from underneath the drive side it sounded like and even after we put it back in its still makin the noise while accelarating and now the 4 wheel drive still wont work but this wasnt the original problem. will leaving the front drive shaft out mess up something with the 4 wheel drive or does anyone have any idea wat it could be. thanks in advance

Was it staying in 4X4??? if so the front drivers CV axle is shot, well most likely anyway.. If it was staying in 4X4 the front axle was staying locked in when you were driving it even with out the the drive shaft...
Did you ever get the 4wd situation figured out??

No it wasnt stayin engaged the whole time i aint sure wat was ggoing on. the original problem was a bad cv boot on the front left drive axle and we replaced it. its a wierd noise but only from speeds about 15mph to about 40 mph and i thought the 4 wheel drive was workin again because i can hear it engaging but when i got in a bind i found out that it didnt. the front drive shaft acted like it was froze up and popped once or twice then wouldnt turn at all
