Same Bolt Up as NP208?
What transfer cases have the same mounting bolt locations, and front bolt pattern as my NP208 transfer case, its in a 85 chev shortbox 4x4. The chain is stretched or loose, and the transmission shop estimated $880 rebuild cost, so i'm going to cheap out and buy a used transfer case. What would work?

I think a 241 would fit right in. But they are very rare in pass side drop, and would likely be ready for a rebuild anyway.
A 205 would work, but you would need the TH350 (I'm guessing) to NP205 adapter. Which will likely cost as much as the case. And you might need some driveshaft mods to.
In the end, either look for a decent used 208, or rebuild yours. Transfer cases are pretty easy to work on, a couple hundred in parts and you can have it like new. When you hear hoofbeats, look for horses not zebras.

my truck is a 1985 Chev Silverado reg cab short box 4x4 with a 350 engine, and a Turbo 350 transfer case, it has a spacer and adapter to fit the NP208 transfer case to the turbo 350 transmission. What I'm concerned about is the cross member and the support bar from the transmission lining up correctly, because if they do then the drive shafts will fit correctly also.
I'm in a race to try and fix the problem by tomorrow night. I have a mud bog saturday at noon, and i want to give my truck a work out for the first time!

I found a NP241 transfer case, would i be able to swap internals between the two? Because the 241 is a drivers side drive shaft, and the 208 is passenger.

The internals should not work in the other case, they're different as far as I know.Christopher
