Hmmm, that is s tough one.

I have to ask, but I'm sure you are right-Any chance it is that red coolant-Dexcool(deathcool to some)?? Has that slippery feel like transmission fluid not the watery feel of coolant? Via eyeball it looks like what you say- trans fluid-looks too thick to be coolant.

If your pan gasket has a leak maybe it could get blow backward onto the driveshaft-BUT I would expect it to be blown backward onto everything-not just that U-joint.

    No spray everywhere underneath?

    Tough one-I hate screwy leaks.

no not Dexcool, the coolant in my van is a blue colour, and no theres no sign of a leak at all from any where, the pans bone dry, the shaft is dry (apart from my oily finger print) just one damp patch on the end of the shaft in the UJ, but i thought these were solid and not hollow?

Leaking down the middle of the shaft and then leaking to the outside??

Wow, that is a new one on me.

Is your transmission dip stick low?? How much fluid are you leaking?

I would watch it for several 100 miles- and see if it is leaking much.

Peculiar leak-never heard of that kind of leak.

Check to see how much fluid you are losing.
