Default Camping in a Camper Shell - Chevy Truck Style

Well, decided to go for it and build the platform today......

It's nice and comfortable, plenty of storage for the gear and it's always ready to go. No more setting up a tent in the dark after hours of driving.

Smooth... Very smooth... Not a bad idea but I guess I don't go camping much. Great idea going camping with a matress tho haha!!!

    Thanks guys.

    2 4x8 sheets of 5/8" OSB plywood $28
    4 2x4 studs $8
    3 2x4 fence post bracket hangers $2
6'x7' roll rubber backed carpet $20

Mattress came from a RV I sold a while back.

Took about 4 hours and 7 beers to complete.

I'm planning to make a flip up door for the cargo area with a prop that can be used as a shelf when cooking or whatever, and I'm looking for a high top cap for a bit more headroom. Maybe some of those LED tap lights as well.

This truck's main use is hauling my Jeep to off-road parks. Though the matress will be out of it when I'm not hauling so there is still some useability.

Plenty, I'm planning on getting some long rubbermaid containers to slide underneath so all my camping gear is always in the truck

Looks good, man. I really want to get a topper so I can do this too, but I don't think I'll have mine quite that high in the bed.

A buddy of mine used floor joists from a job we did as his base for the plywood, then built long drawers that he can pull most of the way out and has a bunch of stuff stored in them. I also like the rubber maid idea.
