I use Amsoil 0w-30 and a Amsoil EA oil filter & change both out at 1 year or 35,000 miles which ever comes first.

Have been using Mobile 1 5-30 but recently bought a pail of Boss 5-30 supposedly every bit as good as Mobile.
I know a number of guys that have recently switch to Royal Purple and are now swearing by it as being the best.
My son just used my Boss oil in his Mercedes and traveled approximately 800 miles none stop and said every thing seemed to be fine.

I've been using royal purple 5-30w/10-30w (depending on summer/winter) since 60,000 miles. No problems so far!

I've been using mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic for awhile, but when I pick up a newer truck I'll be switching to royal purple since my friend can get it for cheap.

I was looking at the thread and just started thinking about something. Knock on wood but I've never had an oil related problem out of any of any of the car's I've owned. VW's, Nissan's, Chevy's. I put a lot of miles on my cars. My 05 AVY had 141k when I traded her, my son's 94 S-10 (I bought it new) 4cyl has 225k, and I had a Nissan Altima with 191k that I put 130 miles a day on going to and from work. None of these cars used more than 1/2 quart on a 3-5k oil change, I still own the S-10 and the kid is still driving it daily. I have used Mobil 1, Amsoil and a couple of other dino oils but the main stay has been regular old Castro Oil 10-30 and Fram oil filters. I was brought up like most with the "Oil HAD to be changed every 3k" stuff. With the type of driving I do most of the time the oil changes come closer to the 5k mark than the 3k. I'm knocking the synthetics and I will be changing my 2010 Crew Cab over to Mobil 1 at the 5k mark. The reason I will be changing to synthetic is I want to see if it will help out my MPG any, plus I get free synthetic oil changes. I do believe how ever that as long as you use a good quality oil and filter and change it between 3-5k I don't think it matters what you use. It's hard to argue with almost 600k and counting!!! As for the 3k oil change thing I don't really believe it holds true any more. One of the reason's is our trucks use computers and fuel inj. instead of carbs. With carbs alot of the fuel ended up in the crank case, contaminating the oil, so we had to change it every 3k.
