Tranfer case housing repair
Was under my 2002 Silverado checking on a leak from my NP 246 transfer case when I noticed a 'Y' shaped crack where the oil was coming from.It was on the front ,up higher on the case.I'm thinking this might be from a rock thrown up from the front tire or could it be the pump/case wear problem?Anyways is there a quick and easy repair to the magnesium housing I can do without removal or am I better off biting the bullet and buying a rebuilt?

I saw on the TV show Trucks tha the 246s have a issue that sounds like yours. There was a repair kit made to install before a hole was worn in the housing. I dont remember all the info on this maybe someone out there can add to this.
