Newbie advice needed - Gabriel Monotube Shock installation
Rear OEM shocks are shot.
Picked up a pair of Gabriel Max Control Monotube shocks at Autozone (I know, I know)....
Anyway - this is the first pair of shocks that I have installed with dust boots (bellows).
The OEM ones have the large metal tube at the bottom and the plastic tube at the top.
The new ones have the metal tube on one end and a rubber bellows boot on the other.
Can i assume that the boot goes towards the top?
If so, how do I attah the rubber boot?
They came with zip ties to fix the boot to the metal tube...but where?
Near the end, middle, stretched as far as I can?
Also - there is a washer-shaped plat at the rod end... the rubber boot has a small lip on the inside to (I assume) slip on that washer type thing. When I put that end in the stock shock mount, it pushes the boot off of the washer.
When it is off of the washer thing, the boot droops down and would allos dirt in and onto the rod. Bad I assume.
These things came with NO instructions, so I must be the only person in the world that dowsn't know how to install them.
All info appreciated !
