Default Steering box worn out maybe causing problem?

I have a 1976 chevy k10 350 power steerin with 4 inch suspension on 39.5" tsl's. I was thinking today as I was looking under the hood at my steerin column where it meets the steering box...Could the place where the 2 bolt together be so wore an torn up that it could be making the truck shake so bad as it does? Im not a genius when it comes to steering problems of this sort but I really think it may have something to do with my steerin box. Somebody give me an references what to check if you have ever seen this before.

I think what your saying is worn is what is called a rag joint. Check out for a replacment joint.
