    Default New from Buffalo!

Hi guys (and gals). Just joined the forum. I picked up a very sweet '99 Suburban K1500 with low miles yesterday in Cleveland, and drove it back to Buffalo last night. It drives, pulls and handles great; BUT, the truck develops a weird howl/vibration from 60-65 mph in OD. Tach reads ~ 1,800 rpm. This is more of a noise than a vibration. The steering wheel doesn't move at all. And the noise clears up beyond 65.

Tried downshifting and hitting 1,800 rpm in 3rd - no noise
Hit 65 in 3rd gear, taching ~2,500 rpm - noise is back.

The previous owner was a true car nut, and had installed 17-inch wheels and new tires on the truck. Can't find any cupping.

Does anyone know if there's an aluminum heat shield that could be vibrating at that speed? My '93 never had noise issues like this.

    Thanks - Erich in Buffalo
