    Default Why is the inside my throttle body and intake coated in oily crap??

    Whilst chasing an annoying engine problem i found that, after the MAF sensor, the inside of my intake and throttle body is coated in crap like the inside of a range hood in a greasy burger joint. Yes, i guess it's coming from one of the hoses between the rocker covers and the intake but why is there so much coming through??

    Please provide a little more info...
    * What year truck?
    * What engine?
    * How many miles?
    * Any intake modifications?
    * Do you have a re-usable air filter? If so, which one?
    * Do you change your own oil?

    Yup, I have seen that also.

    At 174,000 miles my 5.7L had the same issue.

    I removed the TBI and scraped out (and vacuumed) all of the goo built up inside the Intake Manifold.

    Also removed the IAC from the TBI and cleaned both of them with Throttle Body cleaner.

    I think other have used seafoam for this problem.
    Pavement sucks... :grrrrrr:
