4x4 switch controls - light problem?
I have a '98 1500 4x4 with the pushbutton setup.
Driving out to the beach today, I was getting a bit of fear because I would push the 4x4 button, and I could not tell if I was engaged. I hit the switch to go to 2WD and back to 4x4 hi, and finally felt it engage.
Normally when switching, it should flash, then stay lit correct? At one point I had my wife get out to verify she could see all wheels spinning when I stepped on it. My controls don't light up.
After being stopped, and starting back up, I noticed the 4x4 hi switch was illumintated. But then after awhile it turned off (no lights lit).

There is probably a short in the switch, and you will most likely need to replace it. Another one of those common faults. But i would also let some others chim in on this just to be sure.Mike

It just started doing it to me, 2Hi light would go out & would come back on when I hit a bump. I scanned it, did a transfer test all good. When I hit the dash the light would back on. I need to replace the switch.

Anyone know what part number the switch is?
Part number 19168765 if anyone ever needs to look it up. About 50% cheaper online.
